Features

XCON framework

This is a brief list of some of the current features of the latest version of CONFIANCE.
Server side (enhanced MeetMe on Asterisk):

  • BFCP Floor Control Server behaviour (RFC 4582);
  • support for the transport of BFCP information through SDP as specified in the RFC 4583;
  • moderated (through the BFCP) audio- and video-conferencing;
  • support for MSRP ( Message Session Relay Protocol) chatrooms associated with XCON conferences;
  • extensions to the original meetme.conf configuration syntax for custom BFCP/XCON settings;
  • Scheduling Text Protocol (which takes the role of the currently missing XCON Conference Control Protocol candidate) server to enable conference creation and information retrieval;
  • separation between Administrator's Password (to manage a conference as administrator through the Scheduling Text Protocol) and the old calling PIN (which is only to be used to specify if a conference has private or public access);
  • possibility to choose the number of persons who can have the same floor granted at the same time and possibility to associate more resources with the same floor (to allow for example pure one-speaker-per-time videoconferencing);

Client side (BFCP- and Scheduler-enabled Minisip):

  • BFCP participant, and optionally chair if needed, behaviour (RFC 4582), to manage the audio and video moderation in the conferences;
  • support for the transport of BFCP information through SDP as specified in the RFC 4583;
  • support for more than one floor, specifically Audio (as in the previous, stable/outdated version) and Video (basic BFCP-moderated videoswitching);
  • custom graphical user-friendly interfaces for the BFCP messages (compilation, request management and history) and configuration, and for MSRP-based chatrooms associated with XCON conferences;
  • custom graphical user-friendly interfaces for creating new conferences and retrieving existing ones, as well as assigning a chair to a floor through the Scheduling Text Protocol;
